AnimeYume.com's Second Image Contest!

Here are the rules for AnimeYume.com's second image contest. For this contest, you will submit 1 to 3 images; a splash banner for the main site, a homepage banner for the main site, and/or a splash banner for the blog site. I will select the best one from each of the three kinds of images as the winners and post them on the site. Of course, if you end up being one of the winners, you'll be rewarded with a special prize ^_^ So if you wish to enter AnimeYume.com's image contest, read the rules below and go for it! However, you must read and abide by all the rules; if you don't, you will be disqualified, so please take the time to read the following carefully:

Making the images

You do not have to submit all three kinds of images in order to enter the contest. Submitting just one kind or one of each of the three is fine.

General rules for all three images: Your images obviously must have at least one anime picture on them. But what I'm really going to be judging is how creative, professional, and unique they look, your skill at using Photoshop or whatever similar program you use, and how much time I think you spent on them. Don't just take an anime picture and paste some text on it; be creative. Edit the picture, blend it with other anime pictures, give it a pretty background and color scheme. A skillful blend of screencaps, art book, etc., images with a nice color scheme and format would be a great entry. The more creativity, the better!

No fanart, doujinshi, hentai, or anything obscene in your image. Using manga images as opposed to anime images is acceptable though I'd much prefer anime images.

If you use both English and Japanese text in any of the images, that's a plus! If you want to add more text than what I specify for each image, such as a nice little catch-phrase or something about AnimeYume.com being over 5 years old, etc., go ahead, but not too much text.

If you use images from my favorite anime or of my favorite characters, that'll probably score more points with me! XD You can find out what my favorites are on my "About the Blogger" page here.

For all of the three types of banners, you're pretty much free to use images from any anime series you'd like. However, I'd really prefer you use images from anime that I'm familiar with. You can find out all the anime I've watched and am watching on my "About the Blogger" page here.

If you want to see good examples of the kind of images I'm looking for, check out some of the splash image entries on LELOLA, the anime site that first inspired me to make my own. All of them have excellent color scheme, creativity, and blending of anime images.

Rules for the main site splash banner: This will be the splash image for the main AnimeYume.com site. My current splash image can be seen here. As you can see, the previous contest winner used pictures from a bunch of different anime and blended them together pretty well. Like I said, you can use just one anime picture, or blend pictures from various anime together. Again, you can use images from any anime series you'd like but I'd really prefer images that feature one or more of the 26 anime series' that have their own sections on AnimeYume.com. As for text on the image, your splash image must have the word "enter" somewhere visibly on it as well as the name of the site, "AnimeYume.com." Please make the splash image no bigger than 500x375 pixels.

Rules for the main site homepage banner: This will be the banner that appears on the homepage of the main AnimeYume.com site. My current homepage banner can be seen here. As you can see, I blended a bunch of anime together, added Japanese text, and a bluish color scheme (since I didn't use Photoshop, it doesn't look as good as it could). Like the main site splash banner, I'd prefer that you use images that feature one of the 26 anime series' that have sections on the site. And as for text on the homepage banner, it must say the name of my site ("Anime Yume," "AnimeYume.com", etc.,) on it. Please make the homepage banner 470x330 pixels.

Rules for the blog splash banner: This will be the splash image that links to the blog site, Mainichi Anime Yume. My current splash image can be seen here. As you can see, I used just one anime image but I changed the color scheme and tried to be creative with the text (doesn't look all that great in my opinion. I'm sure you can do better!) Unlike the images for the main site, I don't mind if you use images from anime series' that don't have their own sections on AnimeYume.com. You can use images from any series but again I'd prefer anime that I've watched or am watching or that I've talked about on the blog. As for text, your blog splash image must have the word "enter" somewhere visibly on it as well as the name of the site, "Mainichi Anime Yume." Please make the splash image no bigger than 500x375 pixels.

Submitting your image(s)

Again, you can submit either one, two, or all three of the three kinds of images in the contest.

When you're done making your image(s) and are ready to submit, save the image(s) as either a .jpg, .jpeg, or .png image. Any other file type will not be accepted. And please give an appropriate file name such as "ay_splash_image.jpg" or something similar.

Please e-mail your image(s) to me as an attachment using the following e-mail address:

animedreamer36@yahoo.com

This is a different e-mail address than my normal one. I'm only using this e-mail address for contest entries. Do not send anything other than image entries to the above e-mail address. And likewise, do not send image entries to my main e-mail address.

Please give your e-mail an appropriate subject such as "AnimeYume.com contest entry" or something like that. If you don't, it may be regarded as spam and deleted.

In addition to attaching your image(s) to the e-mail, please also include the name you wish to go by in case you win, a link to your web site or blog if you have one, and a valid e-mail address I can use to reply to you. If you have more than one entry and need to submit them in separate e-mails, that's fine too. Only one entry for each type of image will be accepted per person (so a person can have no more than three different entries for this contest). If you submit more than one of one type of image, I will use the last one you sent as your entry for that type of image.

The prizes

In addition to having your winning image(s) displayed on my site, and me linking back to your own site or blog if you have one, I'm also offering better prizes this contest. Each winner will also be able to pick 3 scans from AnimePaper.net and I will send them the full-size versions (so I'll be giving away up to 9 free scans for this contest!) AnimePaper.net has an amazing selection of large, gorgeous anime scans but only people who have contributed to the site (through donations or submitting their own scans) are allowed to download the full-size scans. I'm a donator there so I'll be more than happy to use that status to reward the winners of my contest.

Once I have e-mailed you telling you that you are a winner, look around the various scans on AnimePaper.net and send me the URLs of the 3 scans you would like the full size versions of and I will send them to you as soon as possible.

If one person submits more than one winning entry, he/she will also receive more than one 3-scan prize. For example, if someone submits 2 out of the 3 images in the contest, and both images win, that person will receive a prize of 6 AnimePaper.net scans.

Contest dates and winner selection

You're free to submit your entries until I feel I have a sufficient amount to choose from. I will then announce a date in which I will post the winners. As of now, the contest is still going on indefinably and no deadline has been set.

Once I'm ready to choose winners, I will sort through all the entries I received and pick one winner for each of the three types of images( it's possible for one person to have more than one winning entry). Depending on the amount of entries I get, I may pick runner-ups, or second places, etc,.

My tentative date for announcing the winners will probably be sometime that week, though it could be later since I have no idea how busy I'll be then. If you're a winner, I will notify you by e-mail sometime before I actually announce winners. And of course, the first-place images will replace the splash and homepage banners that are currently being used on AnimeYume.com.

Well, I think that's it for the contest rules. All that's left to say is take your time and be creative! You have plenty of time to work on this so do a great job! If you have any questions about the contest, please e-mail me or comment on the blog post. Good luck, and I look forward to seeing all your entries ^_^V
