Shadow Copy Technique - Kage Mane no Jutsu
If Shikamaru had his way, he would spend nearly everyday relaxing, playing games like chess, and lazily watching the clouds. According to him, almost everything else is troublesome. But although he doesn't have strong goals and determination like his peers, Shikamaru is highly intelligent. He scored over 200 on an IQ test he once took, but the only reason his grades aren't good is because he simply lacks motivation. Even when he was a child, Shikamaru was pretty indifferent to most things. However he did spark a life-long friendship with Chouji, since he was the only one who was nice to Chouji when they were little. And, probably unbeknown to Shikamaru, Chouji considers him his best friend and would do anything for him, which perhaps proves that Shikamaru isn't totally uncaring. Unlike most other ninjas who succeed in battle through strong and fast physical attacks, Shikamaru prefers to analyze the situation and his opponent first, rather than rush into things. He takes his time and attacks cautiously and from a distance with his Shadow Copy Technique, which allows him to control his opponents' bodies by sealing their shadows. During genin training, Shikamaru was placed in a team with Ino and Chouji, but in spite of his lack of enthusiasm for becoming a ninja, he was the only one of his peers to graduate to chuunin at the end of the chuunin exams.
