Pegasus is the president of the Industrial Illusion Company, and is credited with creating the Duel Monsters card game. But his life wasn’t always wine and Duel Monsters games. In his younger days, he was a painter that fell in love with a girl named Cecilia. But on the day of their marriage, she was struck down by a terrible disease and passed away. Heart-broken and depressed, Pegasus couldn’t bring himself to paint anymore. He became obsessed with finding a way to be with Cecilia again. His travels led him to an ancient temple in Egypt where he found the resting place of the seven Millenium Items. He was able to harness the power of the Millenium Eye, which opened the door to a whole new life for him.
Using the power of the Eye to gain access to the altenate world of darkness called the Shadow Realm, combined with Kaiba’s high-tech company, he created the Duelist Kingdom tournament where the best duelists came to compete on a distant island. He stole the souls of Yugi’s grandfather and Kaiba’s brother Mokuba in order to lure them to the island as well. His Millenium Eye gave him the power to see every card in his opponent’s hand, so it was nearly impossible for Yugi to beat his Thousand Eyes Relinquish and Toon Monsters. Pegasus succeeded in locking Yugi in the Shadow Realm, and probably would’ve won the duel had it not been for the strong bond of friendship between Yugi and his friends that stopped the power of his Millenium Eye. After Yugi beat him, Pegasus became a broken and bewildered man once again, and his Millenium Eye was stolen by Yami Bakura.
