Position: Swordsman
Zoro spent most of his childhood training at a school for children who want to learn the art of swordsmanship. Zoro was a natural born swordsman and he managed to master the "Three-Style-Sword" technique, in which he battles using three swords; one in each hand and one in his mouth. He became one of the most skilled students in the school, but there was only one he couldn't beat; the teacher's daughter Kuina. No matter how hard he tried, Kuina would always overpower him. After beating him 2,000 times, Zoro decided that they would duel with real swords on their 2,001st battle. But once again Kuina beat him, however she confessed to Zoro that no matter how great a swordsman she becomes, she knows she could never be the best because she's a girl. So Zoro convinced her to make a promise with him; one of them would become the best swordsman in the world no matter what. But sadly the next day, Kuina died from falling down some stairs. Zoro was grief-stricken, but with his teacher's permission, he took Kuina's sword and vowed to fulfill his promise to her and become the greatest swordsman.
As he grew up, Zoro became known as "Roronoa Zoro," the pirate hunter. He became infamous for hunting down pirates for money. He was eventually captured by the Marines and sentenced to execution because they believed he was just too dangerous. But he was soon rescued by Luffy, who could tell that he wasn't as bad as he seemed to be. After they managed to escape, Luffy eventually convinced Zoro to become the first member of his crew. Zoro is probably the toughest of the crew and he's always prepared for a fight. He's usually calm and a bit gruff and indifferent most of the time, and about the only thing that can get his emotions riled up is a good sword fight. When he's not battling or training, he spends most of his time on the ship napping.
