This Synopsis was written by me.
Mondo Ooya and Rockna Hiragi were just average grade school kids...Mondo loved collecting Monster Collection cards, and he and Rockna spent their time in class with their poor, boyfriend-deprived teacher, Miss Loon. One day Rockna's father, Prof. Hiragi, discovered a way to a far off world called Mon World. Mon World existed on the other side of a portal in the sky, and it was inhabited by hundreds of monsters from the Monster Collection card game. The professor had also constructed an air craft, called the Utopian Eagle, that could fly through the portal into Mon World. He told Mondo and Rockna that within Mon World, there existed six special items called "monster items." And if all of the monster items are brought together, it would keep the portal in the sky open permanently so that the monsters of Mon World and the people of Earth could come together and possibly benefit each other. Mon World was made up of different elemental realms, such as the fire, earth, and water realms, and each realm had specific monsters that could possess one of the monster items. However, as he told Mondo and Rockna, there are those who would use the power of the monster items, as well as the monsters, for evil. So he enlisted Mondo and Rockna as the Mon Colle Knights who would "protect the monsters from all evil and keep the peace in Mon World." On their first arrival to Mon World's fire realm, Mondo and Rockna met Loda, a fortune teller. He told Rockna that she had special psychic powers that let her telepathically communicate with the monsters of Mon World. And if she and Mondo combined their powers and recite a special phrase, they could join minds with the monsters. Not too long after they met Loda, Mondo, Rockna, and the professor meet the eccentric Prince Eccentro, and his two "hench-girls" - tough-talking Batch and totally clueless Glucko. It just so happened that Eccentro had discovered a way to Mon World at the exact same time Prof. Hiragi had, and he had come on his own ship, the Flying Lion. He planned on using the monster items and monsters to rule over both worlds. Monster battles ensue when Eccentro uses his infamous "Skitzo Beam" to control the monsters and make them destructive. But Mondo and Rockna fight by joining their hearts and minds with those of the monsters and vanquishing Eccentro. By working together, Mondo and Rockna always manage to thwart the overly-egoistic prince's plans all the time!
Later episodes of the series get more interesting as new characters are introduced. Mondo and Rockna befriended many monsters in their adventures, and even take some home with them! Love Star and Punch-Punch are two such cuties who accompany the Knights on their adventures. Mondo and Rockna also meet people as well - Beginner and Luke are monster summoners. They can use magic to summon a monster from anywhere in Mon World. Mondo and Rockna attend the summoning school with Beginner and Luke, where they learn how to summon monsters too. Things get a bit more intense when the Knights encounter Gabreolis, a fallen angel monster who had once fought for goodness, but had been turned to the dark side because of defeat and misunderstanding. He's constantly struggling between good and evil...he can't decide whether to hurt or to help. There's also the cool dragons and angels of the realms that usually help the Knights in their search for the monster items. The ending of the series involves the notorious dark angel, Redda(who had also helped in turning Gabreolis over to the dark side)and his scheme to get the monster items. He'll do whatever it takes to get what he wants...even kidnapping Rockna!
