Li is a direct decedent of Clow Reed. He came from Hong Kong to Sakura's school in order to collect the Clow Cards. He's skilled at elemental Chinese magic, and he managed to catch a few of the Clow Cards himself. When Li first arrived in Japan, he was attracted to Yukito, just like Sakura(but in his case, it was only because he could sense the magic that was in Yukito.) At first, he refused to accept Sakura and he didn't believe that she was competent enough to be collecting the cards. However, her warm and cheerful personality slowly began to grow on him, and after the intense "Final Judgement," he and Sakura became good friends, though he had a lot of trouble dealing with the strong feelings he began developing for her. It wasn't until Sakura's final battle against Eriol, did he summon up the courage to tell her how he felt. At first glance, Li may seem brash and unfriendly, but gradually Sakura unknowingly brought out his kind and caring side.
