When Sakura broke the seal on the Clow Book, Kerberos emerged from its cover. Kerberos was suppossed to be guarding the book, but he'd fallen asleep. So he told Sakura that the escaped cards had to be captured, or a "great evil will befall the world." However, since Kerberos' symbol is the Sun, he couldn't return to his true form until Sakura captured the Firey and Earth cards - the cards that he ruled over. Since he had to remain in his small, cute form until then, Sakura and Tomoyo nicknamed him "Kero-chan."
Kero's two passions in life are food and video games. He poses as a plush toy in Sakura's room in order to stay hidden from her father and brother. But Sakura always brings him food from the kitchen, and he enjoys every bite of it! Kero speaks in an Osaka accent, and he loves poking fun at Li and Meilin(he calls them "the kid and the brat") Even though he's quite the wise guy and a bit of a hot-head, he learns to care for Sakura and he tries to help her in every way he can. And when he finally regained his true form, he could fly on large golden wings and breathe fire!
