After Sakura had captured all of the Clow Cards and completed the Final Judgement, she had to turn them into Sakura Cards so that they'd draw their power from her instead of Clow Reed. It was during this time that Eriol arrived as a new student at Sakura's school. He made friends with Sakura right away, and he seemed like an extremely intelligent and mature boy. But even though Sakura was friendly with him, Li could tell that there was something not right about him...
Also during this time, many strange and dangerous situations had arisen for Sakura, usually forcing her to turn a Clow Card into a Sakura Card. However, the reason for all this is finally revealed when it's discovered that Eriol is actually Clow Reed reincarnated! He was the one who had created all of those strange happenings in order for Sakura to turn the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards. After finding out that Eriol is Clow Reed, Sakura was forced to battle her magic against his in order to prevent the "evil that will befall the world." After the harsh battle was over, Sakura prevailed and Eriol was glad that the Clow Cards were in the such good hands.
